Rene Descartes kickstarted the paradigm of modernism with his methodical starting point, 'I think, therefore I am.' The wave of philosophical acceptance that followed his commencing point of view pervade the mindset of our culture today - that of conforming the world to the individual's mind rather than shaping one's mind in accord with reality. To turn this phrase into 'I am, therefore I think,' aligns oneself to reality, i.e. sanity, which allows someone to invent the notion, 'I think, therefore I am,' in the first place.
